Internship: Programme Assistant for Eco-Schools, Learning about Forests and Young Reporters for the Environment

Join us as a Programme Assistant at the Foundation for Environmental Education and be a part of the team that runs the global Eco-Schools, Learning about Forests (LEAF) and Young Reporters for the Environment (YRE) programmes. 

About Us
The Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) is an umbrella organisation with over 100 members in 80 countries worldwide. FEE works to promote Education for Sustainable Development through its five programmes: Eco-Schools, Young Reporters for the Environment, Learning about Forests, Blue Flag and Green Key. Our Head Office is based in Copenhagen and currently has 20 employees and volunteers from 11+ nationalities. English is the primary working language. As an intern with our educational programmes, you will be a vital part of our dynamic team. Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Programme & Project Support: Organizing meetings, webinars and events, supporting National Operators, collaborating with colleagues to meet project deliverables.

  • Content Creation: Designing, researching, writing, and creating impactful content for newsletters, social media and other platforms that highlights the activities and impact of the programmes and our global network.

  • Social Media Management: Developing and executing social media campaigns to engage our global audience.

  • Online Learning: Reviewing, improving and creating high-quality online courses for FEE Academy.

Necessary Skills

  • Excellent writing and communication skills.

  • Familiarity with social media platforms and content creation programmes such as Canva.

  • A creative and proactive approach to problem-solving.

  • Fluent in written and spoken English.

  • A detail-oriented and organized approach to work.

  • Ability to work independently and in a team.

  • Strong command of Microsoft Office.

Desirable Skills

  • A strong passion for environmental sustainability and youth education.

  • Experience with online course platforms (such as Moodle) is preferred.

  • Education or professional experience in marketing, public relations, journalism, or a related field.

  • Comfortable working in a multicultural environment  

  • Fluency in other languages is a plus!

Terms and conditions: 

  • This is an unpaid internship. Successful applicants will be responsible for securing their own room and board.

  • The duration of the internship is a minimum of 2 months and a maximum of 6. The exact duration can be negotiated. It is possible for the internship to part of the internship requirements for students pursuing their bachelor’s or master’s degrees, but it can also be part of a post-studies internship.

  • 37-hour work week, including a 30 min lunch break. We have a 50/50 work-from-home policy at the office.

  • English is the official language at the FEE Head Office.

  • The intern is an EU/EEA/Nordic citizen or have a valid work permit in Denmark. 

  • The intern will need a social security number in Denmark (which means that the applicant must provide proof to the government that they have enough financial funds to sustain themselves (see: https://www.nyidanmark.dk/en-GB/You-want-to-apply/Residence-as-a-Nordic-citizen-or-EU-or-EEA-citizen/EU-Self-support) 

  • The intern must inform FEE about existing holiday plans in the internship period during the interview. Holidays during the internship are confirmed by the intern’s supervisor and should be announced two weeks in advance.
